What if, for one evening, you took a seat at William the Conqueror’s table?
On Saturday 19 September, the Town of Eu will host Le Banquet de Guillaume, a grand open-air medieval banquet held under a marquee. The evening will feature a delicious meal, entertainment, a historic atmosphere, and a torchlit procession to bring the festivities to a close.

A Medieval Banquet in the Heart of Eu
Forget the usual dinner: on 19 September, history takes a seat at the table.
Seated beneath an open-air marquee, guests will step into a medieval-inspired evening filled with food and entertainment.
Le Banquet de Guillaume offers a different way to experience history: not simply by hearing about it, but by becoming part of a moment to experience and share.
And as night falls, the festivities will continue by firelight with a torchlit procession.

What to Expect at Le Banquet de Guillaume?
The doors will open at 7:00 pm to welcome guests.
7:00 pm — Guest Arrival
Guests will be welcomed and registrations checked at the entrance.
7:15 pm — Seating
Guests will take their seats before the festivities begin.
7:30 pm — The Banquet Begins
Time for the feast and entertainment!
10:00 pm — Torchlit Procession
As night falls, guests will leave the table to join a torchlit procession, bringing the evening’s festivities to a memorable close.
Eu has a strong historical connection to William the Conqueror. It was here that William, then Duke of Normandy, married Matilda of Flanders around 1050. This union played a significant role in his story, just a few years before the conquest of England in 1066. Hosting Le Banquet de Guillaume in Eu therefore holds a special significance: behind the festivities lies a fascinating chapter of Norman history.
