The Great Return of the Drakkar Olav to Rouen for the 2nd Anniversary of the Cité Immersive Viking
After a memorable first edition, the Cité Immersive Viking is celebrating its anniversary with an exceptional event: “Year II – The Return of the Vikings to the Seine.”
From June 11 to 14, Rouen travels back to the age of great Norse expeditions through an immersive, festive, and spectacular program.

🛶 A unique experience around the Drakkar Olav
For four days only, the famous Drakkar Olav docks in Rouen.
Inspired by historic viking ships, this impressive vessel offers visitors a rare immersion into the maritime world of the Norse peoples.
With the Viking Year II Ticket, visitors can:
- discover the drakkar moored along the Seine quays
- explore the Cité Immersive Viking
- enjoy a complete adventure combining heritage, live experiences, and digital immersion
📍 Thursday & Friday
Visitors begin their journey directly at the drakkar before continuing the experience at the Cité Immersive Viking.
📍 Saturday & Sunday
A special anniversary package includes access to a Wayibus shuttle connecting the Cité to the Drakkar Olav.

🎂 Special Anniversary Ticket: a festive immersion at the Cité
On June 13 and 14, the Cité Immersive Viking also offers a Special Anniversary Ticket granting access to a full day of exclusive activities.
Visitors can enjoy:

- two traditional craft activities to choose from:
- lucky rune stone painting
- souvenir coin minting 🪙
- free viking face painting for children 🎨
All in a warm and festive atmosphere inspired by great Norse gatherings.

🧭 Viking drakkars were not only warships Contrary to popular belief, drakkars were also used for trade, exploration, and diplomatic journeys. Thanks to their light and fast design, vikings were able to: - sail across the northern seas - navigate European rivers - reach Iceland and Greenland - and even arrive in North America long before Christopher Columbus 🌍 Today, the drakkar remains one of the most iconic symbols of viking culture.

Yes! The activities are designed for all audiences. Some experiences are accessible from the age of 10.
Can visitors board the drakkar?
The Drakkar Olav experience is included with the Viking Year II Ticket, subject to the event’s visiting conditions.

Yes, places are limited and booking is strongly recommended.
How does the Wayibus shuttle work?
On Saturday and Sunday, a shuttle service operates between the Cité Immersive Viking and the Drakkar Olav.
